Identity by Milan Kundera

" Sometimes - perhaps only for an instant - we fail to recognize a companion; for a moment their identity ceases to exist, and thus we come to doubt our own. The effect is at its most acute in a couple, where our existence is given meaning by our perception of a lover, and theirs of us".
I'm not revealing the plot because the entire essence of reading the novel will get spoilt.
Mind boggling and surely not an easy read but brilliant. Reading this novel was like your mind is going through a roller coaster ride, very complicated; confusing at times and profound at other times; where it becomes difficult to differentiate between reality and imagination.
A word of caution: don't read it if you are going through some tension in your life because it will make you feel worse.
